In 2021, in the ancient and storied city of Peshawar, Mohamed Abubakkar Khalil, or popularly known as MAK, began a journey that started with a simple fascination but would become something far more meaningful: the search for clothes that had lived a life before they found their next one. In a world increasingly obsessed with what is new, MAK found himself drawn to what time had already touched, the worn leather, the fading denim, the softened fabrics, the distinctive cuts and the quiet imperfections that tell you a garment was made to be lived in, not simply displayed. To him, those marks were never signs of age; they were evidence of character, craftsmanship and stories that deserved to continue. From that idea, Thrifty Grandma was born. What began in Peshawar became a pursuit of the extraordinary hidden among the forgotten, discovering vintage pieces with an identity of their own and giving them the opportunity to begin another chapter. We believe there is a certain magic in finding something that cannot simply be reproduced, a jacket whose leather has developed its own patina, denim that has faded in precisely the right places, a silhouette that belongs to another era yet somehow feels completely right today. Every piece we choose is selected not merely because it is old, but because it has something to say. Something that makes you look twice. Something that makes you wonder who wore it before you, where it travelled, what it witnessed and how it eventually found its way into your hands.
